A note from Katie, Karen's daughter: Mom went home to be with her Lord Jesus on September 10, 2005, five days before her 53rd birthday, after an extended battle with breast cancer. During the last years of her life, she found herself to be not only one of the oldest living survivors of Wilms' Tumor, but also among the healthiest of those near her age. As such, she felt a burden to share everything that she had learned over the years... to help those who were facing the same long-term side effects that she faced, and to encourage those who were just starting to deal with a Wilms' Tumor in their child. So she created her wilmstumor.us website. I, my father, her friends, and the long-term cancer survivors group of which she was so active, all feel that the information and viewpoint that she shared so well is too valuable to be lost. So we offer those pages here still, that you may continue to be encouraged and hopefully be helped as she would have wished. If you would like to talk with someone who knew her well... to ask further questions, to have someone pray for you or with you, or get more information, please feel free to send me an email. None of us can replace Mom, but I and Bren, a friend of hers, are more than willing to offer any help or information that we can to carry on Mom's legacy. I share her love for Jesus, helping others, and gaining health naturally, and Bren also shares these things as well as also being another long-term Wilms' Tumor survivor. (You can visit her website if you wish.) If you are a long-term survivor facing cancer again, as Mom did, and you're interested in knowing what she did and didn't do, I am willing to offer this information as well. So please don't hestitate to contact us if you need to talk to someone.
